Club awards night, 2007 season |

V.C. Sevale’s
Mike Amery didn’t manage to win everything last season but he will have
little room an his mantle piece for the trophies he took home from the
club awards night, a well attended event that combined food, drink,
skittles and the prize giving held at the Blue Bell Inn at Ryall on
Saturday 9th February.
His haul included Veteran, Senior and Overall Winner. 10 and 25 mile Time Trial Champion, Time Trial Series, Best All Rounder, Vets Target Time, Gold Medals in 10 and 50 miles events. He also broke three club records for veterans at 10, 15 and Hilly 12.5 miles. One record he shared with Sean O’Toole; that of the fastest 2 up 10 mile time trial. Some of Mike’s fantastic achievements he puts down to his new bike but most of it is down to the training and dedication he has shown in the last few seasons. There has been a steady rise in his dominance over the other riders but this has inspired some to try harder and there are one or two who possibly have the talent to take Mike on in some events. Other Awards and trophies went to Derek Morgan who won the Ardennes Cup for taking part in various sportives and representing the club at off road events. Ed Garton was Bronze Senior rider R. Davy took the Junior competition. The Road Race Trophy went to Brian Mellor who was also Bronze Veteran winner. Sean O’Toole was runner up Veteran rider. Will Davies took Decembers Freewheel competition in fine style . Brian Boswell was the Senior runner up and was the fastest Sevale rider in the Hill Climb last September. Steve Price didn’t find much trouble taking the Chairman's Fixed Wheel Award back from Mike Amery as he was otherwise engaged riding on gears, Bill Douglas was Steve’s closest rival and could have taken the prize if he had entered a few more races in the summer. Bill also achieved a Silver Medal at 10 miles and Steve was awarded Club Person on 2007 for promoting the club in the media and helping out at events. Mike Amery didn’t win the skittles match…….
