Time Trialling

Time Trialling

Time Trialling is a race against the clock over a fixed distance. Generally for solo riders but can also be for '2-Up' where two riders ride together for their mutual benefit, taking turns on the front to give the other rider a rest. There are also Team events where 6-8 riders ride together. Sevale organises events for solo or 2-Up only. Equipment can be as simple as just a bike and crash helmet but there is almost no upper limit!

We have a number of courses that we regularly use from the 5.5m Hanley Swan route through 10 mile, 12 mile hilly, 15 mile right up to 25 mile courses and even the fearsome Harcourt Road Hill climb is used.

As a member of VC Sevale, riders can qualify for a medal each year in the 10 and 25 mile disciplines. This can be Bronze, Silver or Gold and are age-group related. See here for the full list of qualifying times for each distance.

We run competitions for members in various categories; Senior, Veteran, Ladies, Fixed Wheel and Road-Bike for which a certain number of rides in each distance are required. The qualifying rides for 2022 are;

5.5 m Hanley Swan x 2, 10 m Chance Lane x 2, 16 m Castlemorton x 1, 12.5 m Welland Hilly x 1, Hill Climbs x 2. Download the Club TT Calendar.

For those new to VC Sevale, our course locations and records can be found here. Time Trial records are here.

The entry fee is £3.00 for members & second claim. It is £3.50 for Guests to enter a time trial and there is no need to be a member of Sevale or any other club. For Club Members, a Season Ticket entry of £25 can be purchased which gives free entry to all events and given that there are 25 events in 2020 which would cost £75, represents excellent value.
